Why Education for Everyone is Important ?

Education is a medium to improve everyone’s life and certainly determines the quality of an individual’s life. Education improves one’s knowledge, skills and develops the personality and attitude and ensures access to employment. It also enables citizens of a nation to understand government policies and access the facilities provided under the same.

Education is also very important for employment. It is no secret that everyone who needs a job is expected to have completed a level of education. Even if the person is self-employed or is engaged in agriculture, he needs basic literacy to ensure he gets paid for his effort and work. To the landless, it certainly is a great opportunity to make a decent living. This is due to the skills of a high paying job that Education provides. It is no wonder that many poor people have been able to improve their lives with the help of education. It helps people in remote areas with simple innovations to make their life better and make conditions livable.

Education also ensures that people can understand the reasons behind various events around them. A high level of literacy has also helped break the social barriers in rural societies. This has been liberating for socially backward classes in these areas and has helped their voices to be heard. It has resulted in important legislations and changes in our society creating opportunities for everyone to contribute to nation’s progress. A better literacy among females has also helped create a just and egalitarian society.

While the importance of education is clearly established over a period of time, we are still far from achieving universal education in India. There is a lot of scope for NGOs in improving the educational standard of the country and enabling the change in the lives of children. Pradeep Richa Educare Foundation (PREF) is one of such NGOs actively helping underprivileged students in Allahabad through their various activities and initiatives for students thereby helping these children lead a better life.
